At last!
When the country focus was on Latvia in 2009, folkBALTICA staged a spectacular sun concert. Back then it was already clear that there would be a “Moonlit Night” when the focus was on Germany. And here it is! A choice selection of the most interesting German musicians, plus some magnificent soulmates from Finland, and a German-Danish male voice choir (The Moon in the Man) specially assembled for these two concerts, follow the yearning frame of mind of the Germans between melancholy and rapture, doubt and hope.
Bobo and the sound artist Sebastian Herzfeld shed a new light upon the artistic testimonials to this spiritual condition and inner turmoil that are to be found primarily in German romanticism, but also in the new lyrics of the multi-award-winning songwriter Hans-Eckardt Wenzel or the Low German singer-poet Helmut Debus. Some nocturnes from our Scandinavian neighbours are also quite romantic, and the most legendary of all the legendary Finnish tango tunes is called Satumaa (fairyland).
